Mitchell R. Weisberg, M.D., M.P. *Mitchell R. Weisberg, M.D., M.P. is founder and CEO of Prevention Specialists, Ltd., which has developed into a multi-specialty medical cooperative that serves thousands of patients in Chicago's northwest suburban community. As a Board-Certified Internist, Dr. Weisberg has been in private practice since 1990. He completed his medical training, including an additional year as Chief Medical Resident, at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, IL. He remains on faculty at Rush as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine where he is committed to educating medical students and residents
in his unique clinical method called Primary Care Clinical Psychopharmacology. Previously, Dr. Weisberg served as a faculty member for Abbot Laboratories, the makers of the antiobesity medication Meridia®. In 2003, he was appointed to Abbott's steering committee entitled "Fighting Clinical Inertia - Taking Action Against Obesity." In this capacity, he was one of only five U.S. physicians chosen to lead other primary care physicians in weekend tutorials on the latest standards and protocols for the comprehensive medical treatment of obesity in the primary care setting. Dr. Weisberg also served as a Primary Care Neuroscience Consultant for Eli Lilly and Company from 2002 to 2006 and has lectured nationwide to hundreds of primary care physicians on the important topics of recognition and treatment of depression, bipolar disorder and Adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in the primary care setting. Dr. Weisberg is the founding physician of The Physician Center at Vernon Hills , IL , a practice model dedicated to preserving the independence and clinical excellence of primary care physicians. His article regarding this innovative concept was featured in the December 2004 issue of Group Practice Journal. Dr. Weisberg was originally Board Certified in Internal Medicine in 1990 and passed his re-certification examination in 2000. He is on staff at Rush North Shore Medical Center in Skokie. |
